November 6th 1887.
Celtic Football Club is formerly constituted in St Mary's church hall in Glasgows Calton. The purpose ststed is to alleviate poverty in Glasgows east end.

May 28th 1888
Celtic beat Glasgow Rangers 5 - 2 in a friendly. It is Celtics first match.

1892
Celtic win the Scottish Cup for the first time. Some months later they move to a new ground. where it presently resides.

1893
Celtic win their first ever Scottish League Championship.

1897
Willie Maley is appointed secretary-manager

1905 - 1910
Celtic win the League title for the 6th successive season.

1907
Celtic win the 'double' by winning the Scottish cup and Scottish League for the first time in the national sports history. Celtic repeat the feat the following season.

1914 - 1917
Celtic win the championship for the fourth time in a row.

1937
Celtic beat aberdeen in Scottish cup final in front of a record crowd of 146,433 fans. the attendance remains a record for a club match in Europe.

1939
Celtic win the Exhibition Cup by defeating Everton 1 - 0 at Ibrox.

1956
Celtic win the League cup for the first time after a decade of trying. Partick thistle were beaten 3-0 in a replay as the celts triumphed.

1957
Celtic defeat their rivals Rangers and retain the League Cup in a memorable 7 -1 victory.

1965
Jock Stein takes over control of team affairs from Jimmy McGrory.

1967
Celtic complete a remarkable season by winning every competition they entered.
Scottish League, Scottish Cup, League Cup, Glasgow Cup, and of course Celtic won the European Cup, becoming the first British club to do so.

1974
Celtic win the league once again to make it nine in a row.

1978
Billy McNeill succeeds Jock Stein as Celtic manager.

1983
Davie Hay succeeds Billy McNeill as Celtic manager.

1985
Celtic defeat Dundee Utd 2 - 1 in the 100th Scottish cup with Davie Provan scoring a spectacular winner.

1986
Celtic win the League on the last day of the season with a 5 goal victory at Love street while Heart of Midlothian failed to secure the win they needed in Dundee.

1987
Billy McNeill returns to manage Celtic as Davie Hay Leaves the club.

1988
Celtic celebrate their centenary with a League and Scottish Cup Double.

1991
Liam Brady is appointed the new Celtic Manager as Billy McNeill leaves the club.
~
1994
Fergus McCann saves the club with a large cash injection and a five year business plan. Tommy Burns is appointed manager.
~
1997
Wim Jansen is appointed head coach and with Murdo Macleod as his assistant they steer Celtic to a nine in a row stopping League Championship.

2000
Martin O'Neil is appointed manager as John Barnes is shown the door for a catastrophic result against minnows Inverness caley thistle. O'Neill captures the treble in his first season and further endears himself to the parkhead faithfull by masterminding a 6 - 2 victory against Rangers.

2003
Only one word can sum up that season........... SEVILLE.

2005
Gordon Strachan replaces Martin O'Neil as first team coach as he leaves to nurse his sick wife. Strachan is currently the Celtic Manager and has recently captured the League title for the third time in a row.

2008
Currently Celtic are Scottish Champions and will enter next seasons Champions League without having to play any qualifying rounds.
